The way we heat and power our homes is changing. The direction of travel is clear, too. Government policy is placing greater emphasis on renewable energy generation within new homes, with the Future Homes and Buildings Standards introducing a new requirement for on-site renewable electricity generation in new dwellings. For the industry, that’s a significant step. For E Plan Energy, it’s an opportunity to keep doing what we’ve always done - evolve with the industry and prepare for what comes next.

The Government’s latest Future Homes and Buildings Standards are designed around this wider approach, with new homes required to have high levels of energy efficiency and low-carbon heating. The UK’s legally binding target is to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The transition will require change across transport, industry, energy and, importantly, the built environment. New homes are an important part of that transition. Solar PV can help generate renewable electricity on site, reducing the amount of electricity that needs to be supplied from the grid. When considered alongside low-carbon heating, energy efficiency and other technologies, it becomes part of a much bigger energy strategy. As renewable technology becomes increasingly common within new build developments, the quality of design and installation matters. Solar PV systems need to be designed and installed in accordance with the relevant technical requirements and standards. The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) provides recognised standards for renewable technologies and installers, helping to support quality and consumer confidence within the sector. For E Plan Energy, this reflects something we’ve always believed. Doing the job properly matters. It’s why we continue to invest in our people, training, accreditation and technical expertise as the industry evolves.
Our move to One Charter Court, Wolverhampton, has given E Plan Energy the platform to continue growing. We’ve expanded our team. We’ve strengthened our capabilities. And we’re continuing to develop our renewable and energy services. Our ambition is to keep building on that momentum. We want to expand our expertise in Solar PV, battery storage, renewable heating, electrical services and energy efficiency, while continuing to work with our partners across the new build and housing sectors. The journey towards net zero is going to take time. There won’t be one solution that gets us there.
